GROUNDHOG DAY AND THE JEWISH EXPERIENCE

Imagine reliving the same day, day after day, for 34 years! That is the premise of the movie Groundhog Day, the 1993 movie starring Bill Murray and Andie McDowell.

Rabbi Dunner analyzes this fascinating movie plot, and folds it into the annual Jewish celebration of our Exodus from Egypt on the first night of Pesach, known as Seder Night, as well as the curious custom of memorializing departed relatives on festival days, in a ritual known as Yizkor.

As it turns out, the lessons learned from this movie have very far-reaching ramifications.
