THE GOOD AND THE RIGHT

In Parshat Re’eh (Deut. 12:28), Moshe Rabbeinu exhorts the Jewish nation to observe and hear the mitzvot, and to do what is good and right in God’s eyes.

Although at first glance this all seems wonderful, upon closer examination the order appears to be completely wrong. Moreover, despite the fact that the concept of “good and right” is rather enigmatic, it is not explained in any way.

Rabbi Dunner shares a classic piece of Ohr Hachayim that reveals some fundamental lessons of the Jewish faith emanating from this specific verse in the Torah, lessons that are encoded in these very anomalies.
