TREASURES FROM THE RABBI’S LIBRARY – SEASON 3, EPISODE 2

June 25th, 2021

An intriguing seventeenth-century booklet about “three imposters” by a celebrated British diarist offers some surprises in this episode of Treasures from the Rabbi’s Library. What do we know about the author? What relevance does this book have to Jewish history?

As usual, Rabbi Dunner shares an array of information that both informs and entertains. He also looks at a “piece of history” from the early period of the State of Israel, as well as a pair of pamphlets by a forgotten rabbi who was also the proprietor of the “Russian Vapor Baths” in London’s Jewish East End.

And as a bonus, Rabbi Dunner introduces us to Rev. Joseph Cohen-Zedek, a rabbinic publicist and pamphleteer who published the most unusual eulogy ever written in modern Jewish history.
