All of our teshuva efforts seem to be focused very heavily on Ellul and Tishrei, and in fact, the Rambam says that the true focus for teshuva is just Yom Kippur. But what about the rest of the year? Why are we bunching everything up into one singular moment in time? Using a wonderful parable of the Dubno Maggid, Rabbi Dunner explains why the Yamim Noraim make sense, and why we need the leadup to Yom Kippur to include selichos, and Rosh Hashana, and the Aseres Yemei Teshuva.
