On the “eighth day”, the Mishkan, which was the first-ever Jewish Temple, was inaugurated in the wilderness, under the leadership of Moses, and the priestly guidance of his brother Aaron. The Torah doesn’t specify what “eighth day” it was, and the Midrash steps in to fill in the gap.
