What does the Torah say about a false prophet? What exactly is a false prophet? Surely there can be no such thing as someone who genuinely possesses prophecy, who would then lead others away from God?

Rabbi Dunner discusses the famous Talmudic dispute between Rabbi Yosi the Gallilite and Rabbi Akiva on this topic, a dispute that is not without historical context, and he also examines later commentaries who offer explanations on the nature of false prophecy, as well as insights into the human nature that compels people to follow those who mislead them.
