Recently, a mourner at Rabbi Dunner’s synagogue told him that she had found herself weeping after the loss of her mother and was very puzzled by it.

“Why am I crying,” she asked the rabbi, “after all, I knew my mother was dying – and frankly, after years of illness and disability, she’s in a much better place now, with no more pain or suffering. So why the crying?”
