IS THE SEDER ABOUT RELIVING THE PAST

The Talmud informs us that the main task of the annual Pesach Seder is for us to imagine as if we ourselves were the slaves in Egypt who experienced an exhilarating Divine redemption. Consequently, many of the seder’s customs, songs, and the narratives we read, seems geared towards this objective. Or are they?

Rabbi Dunner goes through the sources, and presents a totally different perspective of the goals of Seder night, one which is much closer to home than recalling and reliving obscure events in ancient history.
