In Parshat Shlach, Moses changed Joshua’s name from “Hoshea” to “Yehoshua”. The Talmud teaches that this hinted at a prayer that Moses prayed for God to save Joshua from the influence of the other spies. But why send those other spies in the first place if they were going to be a danger to Joshua, and by extension the Jewish people? And if Moses was willing to pray for Joshua, why not pray for the others too? Rabbi Dunner shares a beautiful piece from the late Lubavitcher Rebbe.
