WHAT MADE JACOB SPECIAL?

Parshat Vayeitzei is all about Jacob, as are the portions that follow. But his life and character represent a marked contrast with the life of his father Isaac, and his grandfather Abraham. Nothing spiritual or holy, just mundane details of a family guy struggling to keep his family on the straight and narrow, so different to the lofty lives of his forebears.

Rabbi Dunner quotes a beautiful Nesivos Sholom that explains why Jacob combined all the great qualities of his father and grandfather and truly represented the foundational principles of Jewish faith and the Jewish nation.
