The weight of all the gold collected for the Mishkan as recorded in Parshat Pekudei was 29 kikars and 730 shekels (43,865 ounces) — but that amount was far less than the amount used for the first Beit Hamikdash, and that, in turn, was less than the amount used for King Herod‘s Second Temple.

Rabbi Dunner reflects on the significance of this detail, finding a connection with something Chazal have to say about the children of “aniyim”.
